Every year I set some goals for the year and then do a follow up post at the end of the year on whether I was able to accomplish them. So, how did I do last year? Here is a breakdown of how it went!
Post at least 1 blog article per month
I completed this one successfully and even managed to publish two posts some months.
Post at least 1 YouTube video per month
I failed miserably at this one. I only posted 1 video to YouTube which was an explanation of how to use a custom domain handle with the BlueSky app after getting a lot of questions about it from friends. I have to do a better job with my YouTube channel in 2026!
Contribute at least $100 per month to my index fund
This one didn’t happen. I did make a few contributions but didn’t do one every month.
Consolidate my personal websites to a single host (I currently have sites on 3 different hosts which has gotten expensive)
I made some progress on this one but still have a few sites scattered across 3 hosts due to unexpected compatibility issues.
Don’t miss workouts and track my food every day in my fitness app
Did great on this one but wasn’t 100% perfect. I missed 3 workouts, which is a personal best and tracked my food about 80% of the time.
Install a patio or deck
This one was a success. We had a 12′ x 12′ concrete patio installed out back during the summer.
Look into installing gutter guards on at least the back of the house
This one was a success. We had gutter guards installed in all of the gutters this Fall.
Get the great room light installed
Success again here. We had the great room light installed in November. It was a bit more expensive than I had estimated at just over $1,600 but we do have a 20′ high ceiling that required use of a special ladder.
Paint, organize and finish decorating my office
Failure here – I did not get around to painting and decorating my office.
Last year’s goals were a mix of successes and failures but we had more successes overall so it was a good year. Whatever didn’t happen last year will be a goal on my 2026 list!
